The upcoming Dumas-inspired movie with the three musketeers (really, four) is just that. Inspired. It is not a retelling of the original story. It is a new plotline, as the trailer suggests. http://youtu.be/mQd3MwT2fAM Note the release date is October 2011.
I am excited to see the soon-to-be-released new Three Musketeers movie with Orlando Bloom. From what I've read, the movie goes into more details about the romance aspect of the book. Dumas was criticized for focusing too much on Athos and Milady in the second half of his book. But I disagree. Of course, I'm a little partial. They're the subject of my book. I'll let you know what I think of the movie and its take as soon as I see it!
More writers took a swig Friday in the throws of rejection than celebration. I joined them, the 1,000 or so who didn't make the cut to become a Romance Writers of America Golden Heart finalist. But I truly didn't expect any accolades. I'll wait for the comments, learn a few things and regroup. 99% persistence.
Revisions to my novel are almost complete. Several readers are finished and are providing feedback. Also, the draft has been entered in the national Romance Writers of America annual contest for unpublished work. I'll get feedback on that process in early April. Wish me luck!
I've launched. This is the official website of the series of books I'm working on, tentatively called The Musketeer Series.
The working title of the first in the series is Blood, Love & Steel: Tale of a Musketeer, due out later this year. I'll post more soon as revisions and ideas surface. Thanks for your support and encouragement. Progress is being made on the first draft. Send me thoughtful warm wishes, or a comment, if you'd like.
